This page came together almost like a small internal dialogue. On one side there is the eye — quiet, observing, taking things in. On the other side the image becomes louder: a mouth, marks, symbols and colour that suggest expression or reaction. I like how the drawing holds these two states together. Part of us is always watching and absorbing the world, while another part is trying to respond, speak or make sense of it. The page keeps the immediacy of the sketchbook process — quick lines, layered marks and fragments of symbols that appeared while thinking through the image. • Acid- and lignin-free and made to last. • The natural finish enhances vibrancy and depth. • Textured matte surface that enhances depth without losing clarity. • Handmade wooden frame from Italy.
