Fixed to Flux

Fixed to Flux is a series of 18 works combining paintings, objects, and jewellery. The paintings remain on the wall, while the jewellery pieces can be removed and worn, shifting from static display to embodied movement. In this collection I brought together themes, shapes, patterns, and colours that have recurred throughout my practice for many years, merging them into a single body of work rather than separating them.

The title Fixed to Flux reflects the tension between stillness and transformation. In art and philosophy, flux suggests the ongoing transformation of ideas and forms; in physics, it refers to the flow of energy or particles; and in everyday language, it signals change and uncertainty. The collection embodies that duality—paintings fixed in place, jewellery activated through movement on the body.

The work was presented as part of I Are Here, the third project of Kontrapunkt Collective, created in collaboration with Luca Sági, Lieta Marziali, and Rita Besnyői. The exhibition opened at A-Galerii, Tallinn, in February 2025 and remained on view for five weeks.

RULES OF THE GAME

Number of players: Unlimited

Objective: To shift perspective.

Components: 18 works functioning as parts of a larger system. Repeated symbols. Fragments. Movements. Unstable relationships.

Gameplay: Players move between works searching for recurring forms, interruptions, and hidden connections. No single work contains the complete image. Some elements appear fixed. Others suggest the possibility of movement. The distinction between painting, object, and jewellery remains intentionally unresolved. Throughout the game, forms migrate between surface, body, and space without settling permanently. The Muse may enter at any moment. Not as a guide, but as the temporary embodiment of the creative process itself: disrupting logic, redirecting attention, repeating gestures, creating unexpected relationships between forms. Progress cannot be measured linearly.

Interpretation may change without warning.

Winning:

A player may win by recognising that the work does not represent a finished state, but an ongoing condition. Complete understanding is neither expected nor required. The game continues regardless.
